Grant Programs

The Core, Capacity Building, and Special Opportunity grants are now closed to new applicants.

Sisters Empowering Sisters has moved to the Chicago Girls' Coaltion.  For more information about appling for those funds please refer to the CGC website.

The grant programs listed below are open to new applicants.  Requests may be submitted any time before October 15, 2007.

  Fund for Professional Development Discretionary Grants Education & Action around Parental Notification
Purpose To help enable staff and Board of girls’ programs attend training workshops, conferences, and other learning opportunities that are directly related to their work.  Also, support for first-year organizational dues to the Chicago Girls’ Coalition.
To support unanticipated opportunities and emergencies in pro-girl programs and organizations, for which a small grant can make a real difference.    We also use these grants in support of important philanthropic opportunities that foster the feminist, multi-dimensional values that define GBF.
To support to groups/ organizations of youth and their adult allies who are educating young people about the impact of and preparing for the possible implementation of coercive new public policy aimed at girls and young women.

How to apply Inquiry call or email encouraged. Email or mail simple letter request, max. 2 pp, with info about what is being requested (purpose & amount), how it affects girls’ program, & budget. If new applicant, also include info about alignment with GBF guidelines (max 1 page).

Groups with strong and strategic ideas and plans will be invited to provide additional information, via a written proposal or a meeting.
Some applicants may be referred to other groups for possible cooperative or joint efforts.
