Privacy Policy
This Web site, like many other Web sites on the Internet, offers
a variety of interactive features to help you find the information
you want. The interactive nature of a Web site often means that
users provide certain information about themselves to the site,
such as when a user submits a comment by e-mail, or requests a document.
We respect your privacy. The purpose of this policy is to tell you
about the information we collect, how we use it, and under what
circumstances we share it with others.
What information does this site collect?
There are basically two types of information we collect
about you: information you submit to us and information we passively
collect about your visit to our site. At various points within the
site, we invite users to submit certain information, such as your
name, address, e-mail address, phone number, and any comments you
may wish to make. In addition, we passively collect certain information
related to your visit of our site. An IP address is like a home
address for your computer. Knowing your IP address helps us to identify
where to download Web pages and other documents that you request
from our site. Please note that this information is linked to your
e-mail address.
How does the site use the information it collects?
We use the information for several purposes: (1) to respond to your
questions; (2) to consider your suggested submissions (e.g., a recommended
link for inclusion on the site); (3) to inform you about upcoming
activities (e.g., an e-mail alert about an upcoming filing deadline
for grant consideration); (4) to provide members an online forum
for sharing ideas and comments with other members and the community
at large; and (5) for other purposes reasonably related to promoting
GBF to the public.
With whom does GBF share the information it collects?
Some of the information you provide us or that we collect about
your visit may be shared with nonaffiliated third parties. For instance,
GBF may share your information with other companies and individuals
who perform functions on our behalf. These persons include, but
are not limited to, technology providers (such as ISPs), PR firms,
and other suppliers of goods and services to GBF. The information
we share typically consists of ideas for improvement of the site,
comments on the effectiveness of our services, and challenges for
the community at large. In instances where we share personally identifiable
information (e.g., name, e-mail address, etc.) with third parties,
we request that they keep this information confidential and only
use it for the purposes for which we disclose it to them.
We may also share your personal information with third parties
in the following limited circumstances: (i) requests from local,
state, or federal law enforcement officials; (ii) requests by any
judicial, administrative, or similar proceeding or order, such as
subpoena; (iii) if required by law; (iv) in special circumstances,
such as in response to a physical threat or perceived physical threat
to any individual; and (v) in the event that GBF merges with another
entity or substantially all of its assets related to the services
which you receive from us are acquired by another entity. Depending
on the circumstances, GBF may inform you if a disclosure of your
personal information is made under one of these special circumstances.
However, GBF undertakes no obligation to do so.
