Girls Program Director

Status: Full-time, exempt
Schedule: M-F, 9-5:30, or as arranged, may require weekends and evenings
Location: YWCA, 1215 Church Street, Evanston, Illinois

Purpose:
This position plans, implements, and evaluates programming for girls ages 10-14 at the YWCA Evanston/North Shore, an agency dedicated to the empowerment of women and girls and the elimination of racism.

Destiny Girls, the girl’s program of the YWCA, provides gender-specific programming for girls to encourage their resilience, power, and self-determination now and in their adult lives. Girls actively participate in program decision-making. Meetings will include sports and games, presentations, field trips, and discussions of values and issues of concern to adolescent girls.

Relationships:
Reports directly to the executive director. Works in team relationship with executive director and program managers to manage the agency. Supervises part-time mentoring coordinator.

Principle duties and responsibilities:
Using established curriculum, plans varied activities for after-school and summer programs for adolescent girls. Makes all required arrangements and purchases needed supplies. Maintains contact with participants, attends/facilitates meetings, and builds relationships to promote participation in program. Works with girls to evaluate programming. Establishes drop-in hours for girls in office. Attends and facilitates any special outings or trips. Maintains relationships with area school personnel and other youth service providers. Promotes YWCA program in schools and other venues. Recruits, trains, and schedules volunteers to help with program. Develops and maintains list of resource people available to program on project basis. Coordinates occasional full-day YWCA girls programming, special projects, and summer camps.

Qualifications and experience:
Bachelor's degree in related field. Demonstrated experience with youth programming. Demonstrated special interest in working with girls in a gender-specific program.
