Sisters in Unity (SIU) / Sisters of Struggle (SOS) Teen Girls Programs Coordinator Job Description
About the Organization:
Family Matters is a community-based organization, located in the diverse North of Howard neighborhood in Chicago, where individuals and families have been coming together since 1987 to share their gifts, nurture their dreams and build a stronger community. Family Matters weaves together the principles of positive thinking and expression, peaceful conflict resolution, and an understanding of choices and consequences in our after-school, teen and tutoring programming, and through our community organizing initiatives.
The Teen Girls Programs, Sisters of Struggle (SOS) and Sisters in Unity (SIU), are leadership and entrepreneurial programs for young women ages 11-18. The programs challenge young women at critical developmental stages when they begin to search for and embrace definitions of self and womanhood. Both programs engage the young women in age-appropriate programming designed to strengthen their competence and confidence, supporting them in their efforts to make positive change in their community and their world. The Coordinator works with the Program Director and the teens to identify, implement and evaluate program goals. The Coordinator is the primary facilitator during the daily programming.
