The Leadership & Innovation Group Reading List

by Kristin R. Lindsey, Intersector Consulting

Leading Externally

In “The Discipline of Collaboration” Russ Linden writes about the role of a leader “in an age of alliances.” What does it mean to lead a collaboration? To be an effective collaborative leader? How do you get partners to the table and keep them there? Good stuff, whether your building collaborative teams inside or outside the walls.

In his introductory chapter to the book The New Pluralism, Peter Drucker sketched out a new landscape and mandate for organizational leaders: one defined by their responsibility to build community as much as their own institutions. Drucker offers a look back at the roots and forward to future of New Pluralism.

Leadership for a Changing World, a Ford Foundation program and fellowship, has assembled a tremendous library of stories about a range of leadership challenges: engaging others, broadening an agenda, pushing the debate. (Chicago's very own CAAAELLI is on this list!)
